Exhibition

To visit the exhibition, you must book an appointment no later than 10am on the same day. If you want to book at shorter notice, please send us an email to check if we can be on site in time.

You can choose to visit the exhibition on site or take a digital tour online. We will then reserve you an exclusive appointment for a period of 25 minutes.

On-site exhibition visit

The exhibition space at SagArt e.V. is located at Eisenbahnstraße 37 (right by the Einertstraße stop). There are two steps at the entrance. The on-site appointment is for one person. This person may bring one other person from his/her own household and a maximum of one other child up to 14 years of age. Please note the current Covid 19 regulations. Currently needed are:

1. wearing medical mouth/nose protection (FFP2 or surgical mask).

2. keeping a minimum distance of 2 meters to other persons

3. show a negative Corona test result (PCR test or rapid test) max. 24 hours old OR proof of full vaccination protection against SARS-CoV-2 (last vaccination dose at least 14 days old) OR proof of recovery from a SARS-CoV-2 infection max. six months ago (positive PCR test result at least 28 days old or medical certificate of infection) OR proof of recovery from a SARS-CoV-2 infection and receipt of the first vaccination dose at least 14 days ago.

Programme

The main language of the event will be German. However, the interpreting collective interpRISE will offer interpretation into English, Arabic, Turkish or Russian if they know in time. Please register as soon as possible if this will improve your ability to participate, we will then see if we can still arrange an interpretation.

20/5 18.00 – 19.30 Vernissage with reading from “Dangerous Object: Eisenbahnstraße”

At the opening on May 20 at 6pm you’ll get a digital tour of the exhibition, we’ll talk about the project and then read from some of the interviews.

21/5 18.00 – 19.30: Reading of the collective of authors PMS (Postmigrant Disorder) – in German only

On May 21, starting at 6pm, we have invited Postmigrant Disorder – a writing, reading, performing, exciting, soothing, compassionate, disruptive collective of writers.

PMS’s texts address everyday racial experiences, observations from minority perspectives as much as essayistic engagements with a majority society. PMS has been writing and reading together since 2018. The reading will be in German only.

22/5 11.00 – 13.00 Lecture by Ayşe Güleç on artistic-activist strategies against racism

How can artistic methods and forms of expression contribute to raising and maintaining public awareness of the knowledge of victims of racist violence? On May 22, the pedagogue, author and reseaching activist Ayşe Güleç will talk about this in a lecture, based, among other things, on her collaboration in the Tribunal: Unraveling the NSU Complex, in the April 6 Initiative as well as her curatorial work, e.g. for documenta.

22/5 15.00 – 18.00 Workshop for exchange and planning of common actions

In the afternoon, starting at 3 p.m., we want to exchange with you in a workshop about your own experiences, and thematic focuses and ideas for your own artistic-activist actions.

In the second part of the workshop we will form small groups, each with one idea, and discuss them concretely, with the goal of working on them later as a group.

Attention: For this workshop, regardless of the language, prior registration is necessary until May 20 at 23:59 via the registration form!

23/5 16:00 – 19:00 Panel Discussion – Breaking Stigmas Around the (Residents of the) Leipzig Weapons Ban Zone

To wrap up the program, we’ll be talking with local initiatives in a panel on May 23rd starting at 4pm about what it takes to combat racism and break down the stigma around Eisenbahnstraße.

We are looking forward to hearing the perspectives of Migrantifa Leipzig, Romano Sumnal, Copwatch LE and diversif.
